It was made from a half-litre ice-cream tub, cut down at the front so that the robin parents could reach the mealworms. I cut holes at the back to tie it to a post and small ones in the floor at the front for drainage. (It seems that mealworms drown quickly and are then not so obvious as food items.)

The roof is just a sheet of transparent plastic, actually a comb-binding document jacket but it could have been a chocolate-box lid etc. I bent it over and just stapled it to the tub.

Admittedly the robins were suspicious at first but their fondness for mealworms soon overcame this.

The whole thing was only intended to last for the one brood and did that easily!
