Orhaniye-Marmaris-Fethiye, Turkey, June 2012

This holiday fortnight was a game of two halves, but for a very different reason from last October. This time I was offered either one or two weeks of a pot-luck trip on a 32-foot yacht that was already booked by one person for the 1st and two persons for the 2nd week. I was dubious about getting on with a stranger after so many years of sailing with people I know, so I booked for the 1st week only, with an option to extend to the 2nd. This extension would not be cost-free because I would have to buy a different flight, and of course extend my airport parking.

I quickly decided early in the first week that Peter and I would get on fine, and we agreed that I should stay on, so this was arranged with Sunscape and Cophall Farm parking.

Tom duly joined us for the second week. His “Competent Crew” skills were rather rusty, so showing him the ropes (and knots) was a useful revision for Peter and me of why we had learnt our sailing skills over the years.

Google Earth multi-coloured path files first week (23Kb); second week (29Kb). The colours go brown, red, orange, yellow, green and blue for both weeks. Or to view via the browser in Google Maps click on first week; second week
