Kos/Rhodes/Kos, Greece (&Turkey), July 2013
Of the four crew members on this trip, most had sailed together at least several times, but two, Lesley and Bob, had never met until we convened at check-in in Gatwick north terminal. However, as Ian and I had anticipated, they were as compatible as might be wished!
This trip reminded us of our first one to Turkey in July 1981 where we flew to Rhodes and sailed from there via Symi to Turkey and then back home from Rhodes. But of course in the thirty-two years since everything has got rather more sophisticated, and the yachts larger. The flotilla was well run by Ed and Hazel, and all the crews made up of interesting people. The first week, in particular, yielded some exciting sailing, well reefed!
Matching the tracks shown above, see Google Earth "KMZ" multi-coloured path files first week (46Kb); second week (29Kb). Alternatively use these links to display via Google Maps: first week; second week. The colours go brown, red, orange, yellow, green and blue for the first week and then brown, red, orange, yellow (tiny!) and green for the second week. The second week tracks are incomplete because I failed to retrieve the Datça to Knidos section from the GPS.
Below is a collage of photos taken on the two weeks. Click to view them in Picasa web.
